Storm & Water Restoration on a central Kentucky property

Storm & water restoration

Storm damage is a documentation problem before it is a construction problem. What gets photographed in the first week decides what the carrier pays for, and nobody gets a second first inspection.

This is the work the name is about. When hail or wind hits Madison or Clark County, the roof is usually the easy part and the claim is the hard part. We document the damage the way carriers need it documented, meet your adjuster on the roof, and file supplements when the first scope comes back short.

What you are actually choosing between

Nobody should have to learn a trade to buy from it. Here is the honest version of each option, including where we would talk you out of one.

OptionWhat it isWhere it fits

Emergency stabilisation

What it is

Heavyweight tarp secured with battens, not clips, over the exposed area, plus interior protection where water has already come through.

Where it fits

The first twenty-four hours. Most policies carry a duty to mitigate, so stopping further damage is not just sensible, it is usually a condition of the claim being paid.

Documentation before you file

What it is

Timestamped photographs of every damaged component with scale references, and a written condition rating, formatted the way adjusters read.

Where it fits

Every claim. Nobody gets a second first inspection, and what is on the record in the first week decides what the carrier will pay for.

Adjuster meeting on the roof

What it is

Someone from the trade standing on the roof with the adjuster while they scope it.

Where it fits

Any claim large enough to matter. Hail bruising that has not yet lost its granules is genuinely easy to miss from a ladder, and that is the damage most often left off.

Supplement filing

What it is

A formal request to add covered components the initial scope left out, with evidence attached.

Where it fits

More claims than people expect. First scopes routinely omit drip edge, flashing, vents or siding. We file these as part of the project rather than as an extra charge.

When to do this in Kentucky

Storm work is not scheduled, it is triggered. Central Kentucky's severe season runs March through May, with Richmond alone seeing three to five significant hail events a year, and January freeze-thaw brings the ice damming. The part that is genuinely time-critical is reporting: policies carry storm reporting windows, and while many Kentucky carriers allow up to a year, the practical window is much shorter because evidence degrades and the roof keeps letting water in. Get inspected inside thirty days of the event, and open the claim to establish the date of loss even if you have not chosen a contractor.

Restoration across Madison and Clark County

We work three towns, and they do not damage a roof the same way. Pick yours to see what actually fails there.

Richmond

Madison County

Ice damming at the eaves

January, during freeze-thaw

Madison County's hilly terrain pools cold air in the lower neighborhoods, so snowmelt refreezes at the eave and backs water up under the shingles where no amount of surface sealant reaches it.

Winchester

Clark County

Hail bruising, then algae on the north slopes

Hail March to May, algae year-round after

Winchester sits in a corridor that channels storms up from the southwest, and it sits low enough that fog settles in the mornings through spring and fall. The hail cracks the shingle mat; the standing moisture on the north-facing slopes then feeds moss and algae into the damage.

Berea

Madison County

Freezing rain and terrain-driven runoff

Late winter

The Cumberland Plateau foothills load the southern end of the county with freezing rain rather than snow, and the sloped lots around Indian Fort Mountain funnel a whole roof's runoff to a couple of eave points instead of spreading it evenly.
