It's heat-weldable, producing seamless joints stronger than the membrane itself. It reflects UV radiation, reducing cooling loads. The heat-welded seams are actually the strongest points in the system, failures typically occur at flashings and penetrations, which is why proper detail work matters as much as the field membrane.
TPO generally outperforms EPDM in high-UV environments because its white surface reflects heat rather than absorbing it. It also resists the thermal cycling that causes EPDM seam failures over time. However, EPDM is more forgiving on complex, penetration-heavy roofs where seaming is difficult. We assess the building and recommend the better fit.
