Gutter Installation on a central Kentucky property

Gutter Installation

Seamless aluminum gutters custom-formed on-site in 30+ colors. Proper slope, secure hangers, and downspout placement.

Seamless Gutter Installation in Central Kentucky

Gutters are the unsung hero of your roofing system. Without proper drainage, water ponds at your foundation, seeps into your basement, and erodes the landscaping you've invested in. Velkan installs seamless K-style and half-round aluminum gutters formed on-site in runs up to 100 feet, no seams, no leak points. Every gutter is hung with hidden hangers on 24" centers and pitched to the nearest downspout so water moves, not pools.

What the job includes

7 items, every one of them

  • Seamless K-style aluminum gutters, no joints to leak
  • 5" standard and 6" high-volume options
  • Custom-formed on-site for exact fit
  • 30+ color options matching your home's trim
  • Hidden hanger system with 24" spacing
  • Properly sloped at 1/4" per 10 feet to downspout
  • Downspout extensions away from foundation

The problems behind the call

These are what turn up on gutters inspections across Madison and Clark County. If you recognise one of them, that is worth a look before it becomes the next one down the list.

  • Old steel gutters rusting and pulling away from fascia
  • Gutters that hold water and mosquito-breed rather than drain
  • Improperly sloped gutters installed by previous contractor
  • Missing gutters on addition that's eroding the foundation

Every inspection is photographed. The report you get names the component, its condition, and what it needs, so nothing rests on a verbal account of what somebody saw on your roof.

How the work runs

Same order every time, so you always know what happens next and when you are being asked to decide something.

  1. Assessment

We measure every run, note slope direction, and plan downspout locations for maximum drainage.

  2. Color Selection

Choose from 30+ aluminum colors. Most match popular Sherwin-Williams trim colors.

  3. On-Site Forming

Gutters formed in the exact lengths needed from our truck-mounted machine.

  4. Installation

Hidden hangers driven into rafter tails, not just fascia board, for maximum load support.

  5. Downspout Installation

Downspouts installed with extensions directed at least 6 feet from foundation.

Gutter Installation where you are

The work is the same trade in all three towns and a different problem in each one. Here is what drives it locally.

Richmond

Madison County

Ice damming at the eaves

January, during freeze-thaw

Madison County's hilly terrain pools cold air in the lower neighborhoods, so snowmelt refreezes at the eave and backs water up under the shingles where no amount of surface sealant reaches it.

Winchester

Clark County

Hail bruising, then algae on the north slopes

Hail March to May, algae year-round after

Winchester sits in a corridor that channels storms up from the southwest, and it sits low enough that fog settles in the mornings through spring and fall. The hail cracks the shingle mat; the standing moisture on the north-facing slopes then feeds moss and algae into the damage.

Berea

Madison County

Freezing rain and terrain-driven runoff

Late winter

The Cumberland Plateau foothills load the southern end of the county with freezing rain rather than snow, and the sloped lots around Indian Fort Mountain funnel a whole roof's runoff to a couple of eave points instead of spreading it evenly.

Most residential homes are adequately served by 5" K-style aluminum gutters. Homes with steep pitches, large roof sections draining to a single gutter, or surrounded by heavy tree canopy benefit from 6" gutters which handle 40% more water volume. We assess your roof pitch and drainage area and recommend the appropriate size.

Properly installed seamless aluminum gutters typically last 20-30 years in Kentucky's climate. Aluminum doesn't rust, is lightweight enough that it doesn't stress the fascia, and holds paint well. The main wear factors are physical impact (from ladders or falling branches) and clogging that causes ice backup in winter.
